Play time
Play time is the cumulative time you've spent actively playing osu! — every map you started, summed across your whole career. The osu! API reports it in seconds; sites typically display it in hours. Like play count, play time only ever grows. It's a more honest measure of commitment than play count because long maps weigh proportionally more than short ones.
Play time vs play count
Two players with the same play count can have very different play times — short-map grinders accumulate plays fast but few hours; marathon players accumulate hours fast but fewer plays.
