TrackMyOsu FAQ
Common questions about TrackMyOsu and osu! stat tracking — how OAuth login works, how often we refresh, what we store, what the osu! terms on the site mean.
- Is TrackMyOsu free?
Yes. TrackMyOsu is free and ad-supported. There is no paid tier, no premium feature, no install — log in with your osu! account, click Start Session before you play, and your stats are tracked. The site is supported by display advertising on a small number of pages.
- Does TrackMyOsu need my osu! password?
No. TrackMyOsu uses osu! OAuth, the same authorization flow used by other third-party osu! tools. You log in on osu.ppy.sh, authorize TrackMyOsu to read your public stats, and your password is never sent to TrackMyOsu. You can revoke access at any time from your osu! settings.
- How does session-based tracking actually work?
Click Start Session before you play, and TrackMyOsu snapshots your current pp, rank, accuracy, top plays, and medals. While the session is open, the app refreshes every 60 seconds and detects any new top plays, pp gains, or medals as they happen. Click Stop when you're done, and the snapshot pair is saved permanently as a session in your history.
- Why doesn't my pp on TrackMyOsu match osu!'s site?
Both sites pull from the same osu! API, but TrackMyOsu's display lags by up to 60 seconds during an active session and refreshes only when you load the page otherwise. If your pp on the official osu! site has just changed, give TrackMyOsu a refresh — it will catch up on the next API call.
- Is my data private on TrackMyOsu?
Profiles are public by default but can be set private from the dashboard. Private profiles return a 404 to non-owners — TrackMyOsu does not leak the existence of users who don't want to be found. We never share or sell user data; full detail is on the privacy page.
- Can I track another player without their account?
You can search for any osu! player and view their public stats on TrackMyOsu — but tracking sessions only runs for players who have logged in themselves and started a session. We don't run sessions on someone else's behalf.
- How often does TrackMyOsu refresh during a session?
Every 60 seconds. The auto-refresh runs in the browser tab while a session is open. If your osu! play count hasn't changed since the last refresh, TrackMyOsu skips the heavier API calls (top plays, recent scores) since nothing relevant could have changed. This keeps the tracker fast and friendly to the osu! API.
- What is pp in osu!?
PP (performance points) is osu!'s skill rating. Each ranked play earns pp based on the map's difficulty, your accuracy, and the mods used. Your profile pp is a weighted sum of your top 100 plays, so to gain pp you need to set a play that beats one of your current top 100. Full explanation on the pp glossary entry.
- What's a top play?
A top play is one of your 100 highest-pp plays. Only top plays count toward your profile pp — anything outside your top 100 is invisible to the rating system. To gain pp you need to set a play that displaces one of your current top 100. Full explanation on the top-play glossary entry.
- Can I delete my data?
Yes. Email the address on the privacy page and we'll remove your account and all associated session history. You can also revoke TrackMyOsu's authorization from your osu! settings at any time, which stops new data from being collected immediately.
- How many sessions has TrackMyOsu logged so far?
As of the most recent refresh, TrackMyOsu has logged 36 tracked play sessions across all users. The number grows every time a player clicks Stop on a session.
- How many osu! players are publicly tracked on TrackMyOsu?
TrackMyOsu currently has 28 public osu! profiles. Players can opt their profile out at any time from their dashboard, in which case they're not counted here.
