PP (performance points)

PP (performance points) are osu!'s skill rating. Each ranked play earns pp based on the map's difficulty, your accuracy, and the mods used. Your profile pp is a weighted sum of your top 100 plays — your single best play counts fully, the second 95%, the third 90.25%, and so on, capping the influence of any one score. New top plays push lower-ranked plays out of the weighted sum, which is why pp gains compound as you improve.

How pp is earned per play

Each ranked play (a play on a ranked, qualified, or loved beatmap with a passing grade) gets a pp value. The osu! servers compute it from the beatmap's star rating, your accuracy, your max combo on the play, the number of misses, and the mods you used.

Mods can both add and subtract — Hidden, HardRock, and DoubleTime add multipliers; Easy and HalfTime reduce them.

How profile pp aggregates

Your profile pp is not a sum of every pp value you've earned. It's a weighted sum of your top 100 plays. The formula:

Plus a small bonus for your total ranked-play count.

Why TrackMyOsu watches your top plays

Because pp comes from your top 100, the only way to gain pp is to set a play that beats one of those 100 scores. TrackMyOsu snapshots your top 100 at the start of every session and detects new entries live — when a new top play appears, you've earned pp.
